Supporting you and your team to use systemic ideas through training, supervision, and direct work.
About Us
Systemic Perspectives is led by Jennifer Summer, a Senior Systemic Psychotherapist, Supervisor, and Trainer with over 30 years’ experience working in and alongside children’s social care. Jennifer is registered with United Kingdom Council for Pyschotherapy (UKCP) and a member of the Association for Family Therapy (AFT).
The work is grounded in a strong understanding of systemic theory alongside extensive experience in practice, training, and supervision. Jennifer is particularly known for her ability to translate complex ideas from the family therapy world into language and approaches that feel relevant, accessible, and usable in social work contexts.
Alongside clinical practice, she has worked for many years as a systemic tutor and has delivered training and consultancy for local authorities, national organisations, and multi-agency partnerships. She is known for being calm and confident under pressure, able to adapt in the moment, and for creating reflective spaces where practitioners feel supported to think differently.
At the heart of Systemic Perspectives is a commitment to relationship-based practice, reflective leadership, and improving experiences and outcomes for children and families.
Our Services
Helping you think clearly, work relationally, and sustain effective practice.
Psychotherapy & Supervision
Systemic Perspectives offers systemic supervision to individuals and teams across children’s social care and related fields.
Supervision provides a safe and thoughtful space to reflect on practice, relationships, and decision-making — particularly where risk, uncertainty, or emotional pressure is present. The approach balances support and challenge, helping practitioners think more clearly and work more confidently with children and families.
Training & Consultancy
Systemic Perspectives designs and delivers systemic training and consultancy for social workers, managers, and multi-agency professionals working with children and families.
The focus is on translating systemic theory into clear, accessible ideas that can be used in everyday practice — particularly in contexts where complexity, risk, and resistance are present. Work with organisations often includes supporting leadership teams to embed systemic thinking into management, supervision, and organisational culture.
Training and consultancy offers are collaborative, reflective, and grounded in extensive real-world experience. They may be delivered as one-off sessions, bespoke programmes, or longer-term partnerships.
Speaking & Sector Support
Systemic Perspectives contributes to conferences, learning events, and professional development days focused on systemic practice in social care and related fields.
Workshops explore how systemic ideas can be applied across disciplines and settings, with a particular focus on relationship-based practice, leadership, and reflective thinking in complex systems.
